Pharmanova limited has donated vials Nova Zone Antibiotics for the treatment of Meningitis in the three Northern Regions, the central and the Brong Ahafo region. The Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Victor Asare-Bampoe, who received the drugs on behalf of the Ministry, expressed appreciation for the gesture and commended Pharmanova for demonstrating that the country could solve its own problems with the help of the people in the country.

Dr Asare-Bampoe disclosed that the Ministry of Health had allocated about GH¢150,000.00 (USD 38,000) to curb the incidence of Meningitis in the affected areas, adding that the Ministry, through the District Health Directorate, had also dispatched health personnel to the affected areas to have first-hand knowledge of the situation as well as assess the situation and educate the locals to safeguard themselves against the disease and for the affected persons to seek early treatment.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of Pharmanova Limited, Mr Dhanajay Tripathi, gave the assurance that that the drugs were very effective and would contribute to solving most of the cases in the affected areas. Mr Tripathi explained that the initiative was as a result of discussions the Pharmaceutical Industries Association had had with government at a meeting organized by the Association to show the Association’s appreciation to government for its support towards the Association’s work.
