The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana His Excellency Mr Birender Singh Yadav, has on behalf of the Indian High Commission in Ghana presented pharmaceutical products and medical supplies to the Mahatma Gandhi Ward of the 37 Military Hospital on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the fore court of the hospital’s headquarters in Accra.
The gesture formed part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary celebrations of the first president of India Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, which falls on October 2 this year.
The products included 300 bottles of 3 Fer blood tonics, 30 boxes of folic acid, 20 boxes of vitamin B-Complex, nine boxes of Novamol, paracetamol tablets, cartons of intravenous infusions, rangers lactate, normal saline, among other medical consumables.
The products were contributions from Pharmanova Ghana Limited, M& G pharmaceuticals, Supra Pharma Limited and all Indian pharmaceutical companies operating in Ghana.
In his presentation, the High Commissioner to Ghana Mr Yadav hinted that the donation was also part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of Indian pharmaceutical companies in Ghana to give back to society. He said the donation is made to the hospital every year since they have adopted the Gandhi Ward named after Indian’s first president.
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the hospital, Col Josephine Osei Vowotor received the items on behalf of the Commander of the facility, Brig Gen Nii Adjah Obodai and thanked them for the kind gesture.
Col Osei Vowotor noted that although the items were donated to the Gandhi Ward, other patients including children, pregnant women and nursing mothers would also benefit from them and appealed to corporate bodies and individuals to support the hospital.
The donation to the hospital was preceded by a health walk from the Indian High Commission by the Commissioner, accompanied by the Managing Director of Pharmanova Ghana Limited, Mr Dhananjay Tripathi, Director of M&G pharmaceuticals, Mr Gopal Vasu and the Managing Director of Supra Pharma Limited, Rajesh Wadhwani.
Present during the presentation were some senior officers of the formation.
